Vallée Duhamel

Montreal-based duo Julien Vallée and Eve Duhamel, or as they’re more widely known, Vallée Duhamel, continually surprise and delight by directing complex narratives that combine art direction, design, and hand-rigged objects with high-end production techniques.
Their pieces for Google and Hermés and their last independent short film Strangers showcase their synthesis of techniques: sometimes stop-motion, sometimes very basic visual effects (in the style of George Méliès), sometimes CGI.
The secret of their style lies in freeing themselves from the limit of some techniques and rather using them as a toolbox to employ depending on each idea.

Cric

Cric are two directors who came out of nowhere, emerging from the dusty volumes of Heidegger or leaping out from the intertwined letters of some medieval miniature. Totally unaware of the rules and mechanisms of the system, like the naive characters of Russell, Cric made their company, unaware that it was impossible. Without having any clients, they wrote and directed the self produced commercial “Perché tu mi piaci.” Poste Italiane fell in love, and in a few weeks Cric had earned themselves two and a half million views, an agreement for a second commercial, a Cannes Lion, an ADCI, and a spot on various shortlists. They love to tell true and genuine stories and their style is flat and blunt. They cannot stand the advertising style that disconnects from reality. If you wish to recognize them on set, know that Davide is the tall and handsome one, and Clem is the other.

Sven & Calle
Johan Tappert

He began his directing career at Mod Films as an assistant of Fredrik Bond, then moved behind the camera in first person, directing for Atmosfar Stockholm. In his work he manages to blend cinematic moods with remarkably accurate casting, leaving the overly professed comedy behind in search of a more subtle vein of the absurd, while always maintaining a perfectly authentic look. He accumulated various awards at Cannes and in the USA for his Lotto, A & E, and Holiday Inn campaigns. Between 2006 and 2007 he devoted himself to directing two highly successful Swedish TV series, “Poliser” and “Labyrint.” He explains his approach to directing as follows: “I love to create suspense, to pull in the audience from the very first shots, igniting their curiosity, and then finish off with a twist. Each time I try to tell credible, authentic stories using strong, well-defined characters and well-reasoned scripts in order not to lose the public’s attention for even a second. I’m always looking for a convincing idea, and I try to make it credible, with the eye of an observer, understated.
