For REM and Think | Cattleya, Between Gomorrah and De Chirico, Matteo Garrone Talks about Bulgari Man Extreme

A western duel reminiscent of ancient Rome, set in a more recent past with solid references to the present, all portrayed through a bright black and white lens starring actor Eric Bana.

Matteo Garrone, debuting with the of 60″ format, spoke about the new advertising campaign for the latest Bulgari perfume, Bulgari Man Extreme, designed by the creative director of REM, Riccardo Ruini.

With the DOP by Daniele Ciprì, soundtrack by Danger Mouse and Daniele Lippi, and a metaphysical set that evokes the works of De Chirico, an atmosphere was created with the tension of an impending ambush. The neorealist style of Matteo Garrone, in addition to enhancing the majesty of Rome, adds three symbolic entities that refer to ancient mythology to the campaign: a black eagle, emblem of the Roman Empire and symbol of authority and virtue; a lion, icon of inner strength; and a snake, image of power.
