Gomorrah – The Series, filmed by the director of the cult series Romanzo Criminale, clapped its first take in March.
Francesca Comencini and Claudio Cupellini are also behind the camera, working on part of the 12 episodes anticipated for 2014 on Sky. The cast of actors is strongly linked to the territory with both rookies and professionals: Marco D’Amore, Fortunato Cerlino, Maria Pia Calzone, Salvatore Esposito, Marco Palvetti, Domenico Balsamo.
Gomorrah – The series is a project made by Sky in collaboration with two of the largest Italian companies in film and television production: Cattleya and Fandango, along with La7. The international distribution has been entrusted to Beta Film who is also collaborating in the production of the series.
The literary cause that has sold over ten million copies worldwide—and which was put on screen with extraordinary intensity by Matteo Garrone—has become a colossal TV blockbuster. The series was produced in collaboration with international partners with the potential to go beyond the borders of the Italian market; a phenomenon already taken place with Romanzo Criminale.
